The Sweetest Words

The sweetest words I have ever heard were spoken by my husband the day after Thanksgiving.

"Honey, I wanted to see what you wanted for Christmas. I had an idea but I am not sure you really want it."

"Well what was your idea and I will tell you if I would like it," I responded while attempting to keep shampoo out of my eyes while taking my shower.

"How about a new dishwasher" he replied.

Then there were no words. Those few words took the breath out of me. Seriously, I know he is a great guy, but those words just made me fall in love with him again.

You see, the house we live in belonged to my grandparents. They purchased the old farm house and 20 acres in 1979, I think. When my granny would update the house, she would start with one room and work her way around the house until it was done. The kitchen was remodeled when I was about 8 I think. That was over 20 years ago so the dishwasher is over 20 years old. It still worked if  you washed your dishes before you put them in the dishwasher to be washed. It got used as a drying rack more than anything.

So off to Lowe's we went. We looked and debated but he ultimately let me pick the one I wanted. This beautiful piece of work has been my best friend for almost 2 months.

I know, isn't she just plain beautiful. She can clean a whole truckload of dishes in 90 minutes or so. They are so clean that they sparkle and are dry when they come out of the dishwasher. I can honestly say that she has been a lifesaver in my house. I hated to do dishes, but don't mind doing them now. She is super quite too which is nice when you are watching tv or entertain guests.

I just didn't know that getting her was going to cost me a Playstation 3.

  2. This is so funny! I've heard most ladies say they want nothing to do with cleaning things as gifts. They feel like it's insinuating it's their job to clean. I am always so excited for a new vacuum or dishwasher as a gift, it makes my life easier. I'm happy for you and your new mean cleaning machine.
