Frugal Friday-Hearty Chicken and Pasta Soup

This week I am participating in Frugal Friday sponored by Brandie at From My Kitchen To Yours. The task on hand is to feed your family a main dish, side dish, and dessert for under $10. At first I thought that I would have a hard time at this. It was really easy and yummy too.

Main Dish: Hearty Chicken and Pasta Soup


Ingredients:
2 large cans chicken and vegetable soup
2 cans diced tomatos
2 cans pinto beans-drained and rinsed
1/2 lb dried small shells pasta (you could use elbow noodles too)
2 chicken bullion cubes

Directions:
Bring water to boil and drop in bullion cubes. Cook pasta until al dente (firm but cooked) and reserve 2 cups of cooking liquid. Place soup, tomatos, beans, cooked pasta and reserved cooking liquid into pot and heat through.

Cost:
2 cans of soup $3.00
2 cans of pinto beans $1.36
2 cans of tomatos $1.00
1/2 lb pasta $0.50
2 bullion cubes $.18
TOTAL $6.04



Side Dish:Cornbread

Cost:
2 packages cornbread mix $.76
2 eggs $.24
1 1/3 milk $0.35
spray of PAM $0.20
TOTAL $1.55

Dessert: Chocolate Pudding with Chocolate Chips
I just made a package of pudding, put it in cute cups and topped it with a few mini chocolate chips.

Cost:
pudding mix $0.50
milk $0.40
mini chocolate chips $0.10
TOTAL: $1.00



Soup $6.04
Cornbread $1.55
Dessert $1.00

Total Meal Cost $8.59
