We had company

Remember this post where I said we had a 4 legged visitor spend a few days with us? Well get ready to feast your eyes on Max, ahem, Banjo.

The Tuesday morning before Easter, Abby was sitting at the kitchen table eating breakfast. All of a sudden she got really excited and said, "Mom, there is a dog outside." I looked out the window and didn't see a dog. I thought she was doing one of her corny April Fool's jokes, but sure enough, she said it again and I saw the beautiful dog outside. We were getting ready to leave for work, so Kevin put him in our fenced back yard so we could try and track down his parents.

We were totally surprised to see he was still in the back yard when we came home from work. I knew our plans of not being a dog owner again were falling through. FAST. This guy, who was named Max by the other members of my family, was such a great dog. By great dog, I mean, GREAT dog. The first night of his vacation was spent sitting, laying down, and staying all on command, laying down patiently in the kitchen while we ate dinner not once thinking to beg for people food, not once being snippy to either of the girls eventhough Audrey did get a little rough with him, sleeping in our bedroom floor (much to my chagrin), and not ONCE making any kind of mess in our house.

Oh yes, he was a GREAT dog. At least for the few days he spent at our house. You see his mommy came looking for Thursday night and was going door to door (yes, out in the country mind you) giving people her name and phone number in case anyone had seen him.

You see his mommy and daddy had moved into the area a few months ago. They had a phone number on his collar with the prefix of a neighboring town. There was no area code and when we called, the number was disconnected. We tried looking at the white pages and even listed an add at a local animal sanctuary. We thought he was going to have a permenant home with us. Then his mommy came and took him home. The phone number turned out to be a cell phone number with a different area code than we are in.

So Banjo, if you ever need a vacation again, you are more than welcome to come stay at Hotel Maguire.

  1. We moved from AL to NC a couple of months ago. A week after moving into our new home our cat of 16 years died. A friend found a stray put it in her yard looked for owners and nothing. she then gave us the cat. I called to get a vet appointment to have her fixed and de clawed and they said it would be 2 weeks. So we took her in 2 weeks later and guess what SHE IS HAVING KITTENS. So now we have a new cat and soon we will have kittens
