Torture Devices

This post was originally going to be titiled "You Would Think I Was Pulling Her Toe Nails Out" but that would have been entirely too long.

So ever since the Little Miss had this nasty thing, she has not been able to get rid of her cough. She coughs all night long and wakes up coughing. Frustrating to the parent who can't do a whole lot for her. I have put a humidifier in her room with a menthol liquid to help her congestion, but nothing is helping.

So I did it. I broke out the torture device. AKA the nebulizer.

She has had breathing treatments before and never really liked them. She would always fuss but I would just follow her around the room so she could get a little bit of the albuterol in her lungs.

But tonight was different. She wasn't having ANYTHING to do with it. Nope, not a thing and she kept telling me "STOP!" Well being the ever so persistant mommy that I am, once she had walked into the corner, I kept her there. Oh, yes. I am so mean. I kept the kid cornered while she screamed and cried at me. At the end of the treatment, she finally just sat down and finished her treatment in defeat because she knew I wasn't going to give up.

It has been and hour and there has been minnimal coughing coming from her room so it has helped. I just don't think that in her little 21 month old mind, she understands that the 5 minutes of torture help her so much.

Hopefully she learned that Mommy wins. At least most of the time.

Now I am off to go get my hiney on the Wii Fit. I have to work off the 3 chocolate chip cookies I just ate.

  1. We had to give David breathing treatments for awhile, and it was tricky, but we found that sitting in front of the TV was an offer he couldn't refuse.
