Leslie's Chocolate Peanut Candy

Kevin's mom used to make this candy every Christmas. She heard the recipie on the radio and decided to give it a try. It has been a Christmas tradition since. She is no longer with us so I have taken on the task of making it each year.

Ingredients:

about 3 cups unsalted peanuts
3 cups peanut butter cereal*
1 24 oz package chocolate almond bark

Directions:

In a heavy duty pan, melt almond bark until completely melted stirring often. Add cereal and peanuts and mix until coated. Drop by spoonfuls onto wax paper and let the candy sit until hardened.

*The first time my mother in law made this she used peanut butter Cinnamon Toast Crunch. We liked this version better but I have not been able to find this kind of cereal again. I have been using peanut butter Captain Crunch instead. They both taste the same but the texture is different.

Unfortunately, I am deathly allergic to peanuts. Go figure!

  6. That sounds amazing. I wonder if it would be just as good with cocoa puffs. I have still a big bag of them and my daughter won't eat them anymore. I will try it this weekend

  7. Computer screen licking is perfectly acceptable. :)

I am sure that you could use the cocoa puffs they just wouldn't have as much peanut butter flavor. I bet they would be really good though.
