What's for Dinner????

There are several things that I really like to do. One of them being cooking. My granny was the best cook ever. She could have random things in the house and come up with a great meal. You could call her and ask her any cooking related question and she would have the answer. That is one thing that I really miss about her being gone.

Sorry. I have digressed a little. Back onto the subject. What were we talking about? Oh yeah, what's for dinner.

I recently had a conversation with a good friend of mine about what she cooks for dinner. Being I like to cook, I sometimes find myself making the same things. Not that spaghetti and meatloaf are bad by any means, it is just that variety is good.

So I decided to bring out my box of recipes and try some new and some old ones out. Our first meal that is a favorite but not one we do often is Indian Tacos. They were so yummy. And pretty quick to make. That is if you didn't make a whole recipe and have 8 or so Indian Tacos to fry up. Next time I am going to make half a batch.

So you say you would like to make fry bread but don't know how?

It is VERY simple. This lady has requested the recipe so I am happy to oblige.

Fry Bread*

4 cups all purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 teaspoons cooking oil

water
1. in a bowl mix flour, baking powder and salt
2. add oil and enough water to form a soft dough
3. with a floured hand, kneed dough until it has some spring
4.shape into balls about 3-4 inches in diameter
5. flatten balls into disks using your fist as a rolling pin
6. fry dough in a fryer heated to 375 degrees or a pan of cooking oil
7. top with your choice of toppings and have the camera ready for the first bite

*This recipe will make 6-8 LARGE fry bread so you might want to half it if you only need a few. I made the breads smaller for the desserts so make your balls of dough smaller. These aren't very good reheated so you won't want to make more than you will eat in a meal.*
Fry bread Topped with ground beef, canned pinto beans, lettuce, tomatoes, onion, shredded cheese and sour cream. In an attempt to be creative with my food, I decided that since I had a whole lot of fry bread I should attempt a dessert with this extra fry bread. This was the best idea that I have had in a long time. These turned out so good.
Fry bread sprinkled with sugar, topped with lightly sugared sliced strawberries, a dollop of cool whip and drizzled with chocolate sauce.

Pure delicious

"And why haven't we had this before?"

Pure joyDo I need to persuade you to try these? I thought Audrey's face did a good job at that.
