Down on the farm you will find many interesting things. Such as waking up to Abby and daddy in the front yard with the neighbor cows. Ever since Abby was walking she has taken an interest in the cows. Each year, she makes at least one attempt at getting to pet a cow but has never succeeded. That was until a few weeks ago. Abby and her daddy were outside one early morning and the cows were right up next to the fence. Abby asked to go down to them and I told her that she could as long as she was careful. Daddy met her over at the gate and a big momma cow came up and stuck her head up to the gate.
Big momma let Abby pet her for a really long time. This cow was huge but really sweet to Abby. Abby got to pet her for about 10 minutes or so.
At the time we did not know that momma cow really
was a new momma until her little baby cow decided to make its
appearance. The baby was a
very new baby. It still had it's umbilical cord
attached. Momma cow let the baby get within a foot of Abby before she turned her head at the baby and snorted. It scared the little calf and the calf took a few steps back. It was almost like the momma cow didn't want Abby to give the baby attention because she wasn't done having Abby pet her.
